Menopause

What is the menopause?

The menopause is a natural part of ageing when menstruation stops, that usually occurs between 45 and 55 years of age. In the UK, the average age for an individual to reach the menopause is 51.

Around 30-60% of individuals experience intermittent physical and/or psychological symptoms during the menopause which can adversely affect both their personal and working life. Those experiencing menopausal symptoms should feel confident both in discussing their needs, and in asking for support.

You can find information about the support available at the Menopause Wellbeing, Safety and Health webpage.
