LGBT Staff Network

The University of Leeds LGBT Staff Network exists to ensure that the views and concerns of LGBT staff are represented and considered at organisational level, and that their interests continue to form a part of the University’s wider equality and diversity agenda. It provides a safe, welcoming space and group for LGBT identifying staff – and colleagues, whatever their orientation, with an interest in LGBT equality to meet, socialise, and/or benefit from mutual support. Visit our Facebook page and/or contact us through the details below to join the mailing list.

Any enquiries about the Network and its activities can be addressed to the LGBT Staff Network; the Network’s co-ordinators can also be contacted individually, as follows:

LGBT History Month

The LGBT Staff Network celebrated LGBT History Month with an Academic Showcase event.  Four colleagues from the University who are undertaking LGBT-related research presented short, accessible talks on their work, with questions, discussion, and networking in-between.  More details about this event can be found at: LGBT History Month 2017

Monthly informal drop-ins

The LGBT Staff Network holds monthly informal drop-ins on the final Wednesday of each month. The drop-ins provide Network members (or those potentially interested in joining/finding out more) an opportunity to meet up informally, outside of its more policy-focused meetings and/or larger social events. The network are also planning some evening film nights and details of planned events are as follows:

The LGBT staff network is warmly welcoming LGBTQ+ members to join a workshop to talk about the future development of the network.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday 21st February, in Business School Maurice Keyworth SR 1.03 from 4 – 6 pm.  If you can’t make it for the start or you can’t stay for the whole workshop that is fine, please feel free to drop in whenever you can (tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided).

The current co-chairs of the network will be stepping down from at the end of the March and will be looking for interest from staff members who may wish to take a more active role in the network. There are lots of ways you can be involved in the network whether you are interested in organising socials, feeding into policies and practices at the university or meeting fellow LGBT members of staff.

If you would like to attend this workshop but will be unable to, or are an LGBT ally, please email any ideas or suggestions you may have for the network to LGBT Staff Network or
