UK Black Pride is Europe’s largest celebration for LGBTQ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent. The annual event creates a safe space to celebrate diverse sexualities, gender identities, cultures, gender expressions and backgrounds, while also fostering, representing and celebrating Black LGBTQ and QTIPOC (Queer, Transgender and Intersex People of Colour) culture through education, the arts, cultural events and advocacy.

University of Leeds is proud to mark UK Black Pride by flying the rainbow flag throughout the day on Sunday 5 July.

Pride Inside (28 June – 10 July)

Every year, Pride celebrations mark progress made on LGBTI+ rights, but also serve as a reminder of how far there is to go. As COVID-19 forces lots of Pride events to be cancelled, Amnesty International, UK Black Pride, ParaPride, Gendered Intelligence and Stonewall have joined to bring celebrations online this year with Pride Inside – an online series of gigs, comedy shows, panel discussions, and arts-based events.

Pride Inside will take place from Sunday 28 June – Friday 10 July. It is a chance for those who would have been taking part in Pride events - had they not been postponed due to COVID-19 - to come together and celebrate on a brand-new online platform. The line-up will include an exciting array of LGBTI+ comedians, artists, DJs, musicians and activists.
