4. What support is available to assist a student in deciding whether or not to continue with a pregnancy?

Whilst only the student themselves can make the decision as to whether or not to continue with their pregnancy, a range of services across the University and students’ union can assist by providing confidential support and information about the options available, and, in some cases, other practical assistance. These services include, for example:

See section 12 for more services.

Students also have access to external organisations for information, advice or support.

These include:

The student’s own GP, Brook Advisory Centres
The Marie Stopes International Leeds Centre
The Family Planning Association

At this stage, a student may also wish to consider the impact that having a child may have on their studies. Section 6 describes the procedure for a student to discuss with their School how their programme of study might be adjusted to take account of their pregnancy and/or childcare responsibilities.
